How to Beat the 99% Crowd
It’s hard to stand out in a world where everyone is trying to be different.
Standing out is more important than ever, but it’s also harder than ever. With so many people vying for attention, it can be tough to get noticed.
But what separates the 1% from the 99%? How do they stand out and make their mark?
Most articles on the internet talk about having the right mindset, attitude, and approach.
But I want to highlight some tangible things that you can do to make sure you stand out from the crowd.
And it’s not about being superintelligent or a will of Samurai.
It’s about the basics that we learned at school perhaps most of us forgot to focus on as adults.
What most people are not ready to do on a daily basis, you can use to our advantage to land in the top 1%.
The Need For *Consistency*
The 1% is consistent in their actions. They don’t go off the rails, and they stay on track even when faced with adversity.
On the other hand, 99% can never sustain consistency. It doesn’t take much to throw them off their game.
Consistency requires:
Practice
Discipline
You need to be intentional about what you do and be consistent in your actions.
Once you start taking small steps every day, it’s easier to stay the course even when things don’t go your way.
The key to consistency is to develop a habit. And the key to developing a habit is to “take small pleasurable steps.”
For example, if you want to write a blog, start by writing just one paragraph a day. It doesn’t matter how good or bad it is. Just get in the habit of writing something every day.
Once you’ve developed the habit, you can gradually increase the amount you write each day. But always focus on consistency first and foremost.
Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. ♻️
The power of repetition is insane.
It creates thrust. It fills you with confidence.
By repeating the same or similar tasks, you’re constantly improving.
You may not see the results immediately. But over time, your skills will increase exponentially.
The key is to keep doing the same thing until it becomes second nature.
Repetition creates the master. ~Cesar Millan
It doesn’t matter what you do in one day or one week. Success is determined by what you can do on day 100 or week 100.
That’s when you realize that you’ve achieved something.
By respecting the power of repetition, you automatically edge toward the 1% of the population. The reason is 99% fizzle out within a month or two.
Repetition creates momentum. And it’s this momentum that propels you to success.
Set *Reasonable* Expectations
If there are 20 rungs in a ladder, you can’t jump from 1 to 20. You need to take it one step at a time.
The 1% are successful because they understand this principle. They set reasonable expectations and then take small, consistent steps to reach their goals.
On the other hand, 99% have unrealistic expectations. They want overnight success and are always looking for shortcuts.
When they don’t get the results they want, they give up.
Don’t be like the 99%. Set reasonable expectations and then take baby steps.
The *Pause* Button ⏸️
You don’t always have to be in a state of action. You need to know when to pause and reflect.
Understand that pausing helps you recharge your mind and creativity tanks to come back even stronger.
This doesn’t mean you have to take a vacation every month or week. That might be counterproductive.
But small breaks are necessary if you want to stay in the game for a long time.
And the only way to allow yourself to take breaks is to focus on “your journey.” Know your rhythm, respect your productivity cycles and act according to your potential.
This also means “no comparison.”
Stop Trying To Be The *Best*
You need to be *better* than average.
Statistically, this puts you in the top 20% of the population.
And if you want to join the elite 1%, then you only need to be better than 99% of the population.
In other words, you don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to do anything extraordinary. You need to focus on the basic laws of perseverance.
And that’s not as difficult as it sounds.
Just focus on NOT repeating your mistakes.
And you’ll get better with practice. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s really true.
Start believing it can be done if you want to join their ranks. Don’t let perfectionism hold you back from taking action.
