Feeling stressed, unhappy, and down in the dumps?

In today's world, we are constantly on the go and feeling overwhelmed.
We often feel like we need to find ways to feel happier, more cheerful, and less stressed but don't have the time.
But, I know that when I'm feeling stressed, unhappy, or just generally out of sorts, 10 minutes of focusing on my own happiness can make a big difference.
Yes, there are actually ways to feel happier, more cheerful, and less stressed in just 10 minutes!
Today, I'm going to share with you five of my favorite tips for how to quickly achieve these positive feelings.
Here's the deal: I'll tell you about these ideas for free, but I want you to share at least one thing that lifts your mood anytime, anywhere.
Deal?
Let me share my secrets. You will feel refreshed and ready to tackle anything life throws your way following these ideas.
Shut Your Eyes. Open your Nose.
When you're feeling stressed, tense, or just generally unhappy, taking a few deep breaths can be a quick and easy way to feel better.
Deep breathing exercises help you focus on your breath and clear your mind.
They also help to relax your body and calm your mind.
So, take a few minutes to close your eyes and focus on your breath.
Breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose, and breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Repeat this for a few minutes and see how you feel.
You can do it in a fresh environment.
If you're feeling cooped up or just need a change of scenery, step outside for a few minutes.
Just sit on a park bench and breathe with your eyes closed. Let people watch you; don't bother about it.
Getting some fresh air will help clear your head and improve your mood.
Grin From Ear To Ear
I've always been a skeptical person. I don't believe in things until I can see them for myself, and that goes for happiness as well.
I never used to smile unless I was genuinely happy - and even then, it was a rare occurrence.
But over time, I've learned that smiling actually has a lot of benefits, even if you're not feeling happy at the moment.
When you smile, your brain releases endorphins, which are hormones that make you feel good.
Smiling also helps to reduce stress and anxiety. And even if you're faking it at first, eventually, the smile will become genuine.
I've found that when I'm feeling down, fake smiling actually helps me to feel better.
It's like my brain is fooled into thinking that I'm actually happy, and so it starts to release those feel-good hormones. And before I know it, I'm actually feeling happier.
So the next time you're feeling stressed, down or anxious, try smiling. It might seem fake at first, but it can actually help to improve your mood fast!
Relive
I was feeling really down earlier today, and I didn't know what to do.
I had a lot of work to do, and I felt overwhelmed and stressed.
But then, I remembered a happy memory from earlier this year.
I was on vacation with my family, and we were all having a blast together.
Suddenly, I felt 10X happier than before, and the stress melted away.
Just thinking about that happy memory made me feel so much better! If you're ever feeling down, try thinking of a happy memory–it always makes me feel better instantly.
Another thing that can help you feel happier and less stressed is focusing on something you're looking forward to - What are you excited about in your life? What are some things that you're looking forward to happening in the near future?
When I focus on the good things that are coming my way, it makes me feel really happy and positive. It's a great way to change your mood in just 10 minutes!
So if you're feeling down, or stressed out, try thinking of a happy memory or focusing on things you're looking forward to.
It'll make you feel better in no time!
Count Your Blessings
I used to be someone who was stuck in a lot of negativity.
I would get stressed out easily, and it would make me frustrated with other people or events that had nothing to do with me.
A few years ago, my therapist suggested that I start writing down three things that I'm grateful for every day.
At first, the gratitude journal felt like a chore because it took so much focus and effort just to write down 3 things when I knew deep down there were probably at least 10 things on my list!
But then one day--after about 2 months of this daily practice--something happened:
I started feeling better automatically without forcing myself into these positive thoughts. It just became second nature to stop focusing on what wasn't working in my life and to start appreciating all of the good.
The bottom line is this: When you focus on the good, you become a more positive person.
And when you're a more positive person, you're happier, less stressed, and generally more pleasant to be around.
Shake Your Booty
I have to be honest - I used to be really bad about moving my body.
In fact, I would often go for days or even weeks without even taking a walk. And unsurprisingly, I would always feel unhappy, stressed, and sluggish.
But then, one day, I decided to change that. Actually, my fatty liver forced me to change myself.
I started by going on short walks every day, and gradually increased the length of my walks as I felt more comfortable. Not only did this help me get more exercise, but it also helped me feel happier and more relaxed.
Nowadays, I love going on walks (or hikes) because they make me feel better!
If you're struggling to feel happier, more cheerful, and less stressed, I would highly recommend moving your body.
Go for a walk, do some stretches, or even dance around your room - whatever makes you happy and feels good for you.
You may be surprised at how much better you feel after just 10 minutes of exercise!
